Started in 1984, Asia Cup was started to promote goodwill among Asian Countries. The ongoing tournament in Abu Dhabi is the 14th edition of the tournament. All the teams in Asian Cricket council viz. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Hong Kong participated to win the cup.

The tournament started with Bangladesh winning over Sri Lanka, and moving further in the tournament. Sri Lanka lost their second match as well and were eliminated from the tournament. Afghanistan and Bangladesh winning their matches moved to the Super Four section of the Asia Cup. Hong Kong also lost both their matches and took an exit from the tournament.

After all this, the much awaited India-Pakistan match was played, where India won remarkably by 9 wickets, and moved to the final of this tournament.

The captain Rohit Sharma and Vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan had to rest so the legendary player and the former captain of the Indian cricket team MS Dhoni came to the rescue and took the reigns, what’s interesting here is that after this match, Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first  cricketer to lead India 200 times in ODIs and also the oldest player to lead India in an ODI.

Now, a quick heads up, the final match between India and Bangladesh will be played on 28th  September, 2018 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Live telecast begins at 5 PM IST on Star Sports 1 and Select 1. The final match of Asia Cup can also be seen live on the Hotstar mobile app.

What’s quite mention-able is that India have won all the matches that they have played. India have been the most successful team in Asia Cup ever, since they have won the cup 6 times out of 13.
